Summary: Glass skin is a Korean beauty ideal: skin so smooth, hydrated and refined it catches light like glass. At Mello Spa Canggu, our Korean Glass Skin Facial is a 75-minute, outcome-focused treatment using PHA exfoliation, layered Korean serums and optional Rejuran PDRN to strengthen your barrier and produce a visible glow. IDR 1,450K (plus tax), daily 10:00-18:00, best for dull or dehydrated skin.

Bali’s climate is its own kind of skin challenge. Sun, salt air, air-conditioning that strips moisture the moment you walk inside. Most people arrive in Canggu with skin working harder than it should.

The Korean Glass Skin Facial draws from K-beauty’s core philosophy: skin first. Not coverage, not correction with harsh actives, but barrier health that makes your complexion look better without anything on top of it. At Mello Spa Canggu, we use Medicube, Rejuran, Laneige and Skin1004 because their formulas were built around that philosophy. Results hold because we’re working with the skin’s own hydration pathways, not layering product on top of a depleted surface.

What does “glass skin” actually mean, and the K-beauty philosophy behind it?

Glass skin is the English translation of the Korean beauty term yuri pibu: skin that is smooth, evenly toned and translucent enough to catch light. The finish isn’t matte and it’s not oily.

Getting there is about skin that is genuinely well-hydrated and well-exfoliated at surface level. When the outer layer is gently cleared and moisture is locked in, the skin becomes uniform enough to reflect light cleanly. Korean skincare starts from a different premise than Western routines: build and protect, not strip and resurface. The Korean Glass Skin Facial condenses that multi-step layering approach into a single 75-minute session.

What is PHA exfoliation and why does this facial use it?

PHA stands for polyhydroxy acid. PHAs have a larger molecular structure than AHAs (glycolic, lactic) or BHAs (salicylic), so they work on the outermost skin surface rather than penetrating deeper. Per formulator data, this means less stinging, redness and photosensitivity. PHAs also act as humectants, drawing moisture to the surface while they exfoliate: you’re clearing what’s blocking light absorption without stripping the barrier you’re trying to build.

What is Rejuran PDRN?

Rejuran is a Korean skincare brand built around PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotides): bioactive DNA fragments derived from salmon. According to the manufacturer, PDRN supports tissue repair and boosts hydration signalling in the skin. We include Rejuran serum in the core treatment.

Who this treatment is for, and when to consider something else

The Korean Glass Skin Facial works well for:

  • Dull or flat skin after sun, travel or air-conditioning
  • Dehydrated skin that feels tight but isn’t flaking
  • Pre-event prep: a dinner, a flight home, a wedding
  • Anyone new to professional facials who wants results without an aggressive first experience

PHA exfoliation is gentler than standard AHA treatments, so there’s no peeling or downtime. Results are visible the same day: skin looks smoother, more even and more hydrated. Over a course of sessions (two or three, four to six weeks apart), barrier strength builds progressively.

One guest said: “That was truly the best facial I have ever had! Absolutely incredible, it was curated so thoughtfully from start to finish.”

Frequently asked questions

What is a Korean glass skin facial in Bali?

A Korean glass skin facial is a multi-step treatment designed to produce skin that looks smooth, deeply hydrated and translucent. At Mello Spa Canggu, our version is 75 minutes and uses PHA exfoliation, layered Korean serums from brands like Medicube, Laneige and Rejuran, plus a hands-on facial massage. It costs IDR 1,450,000 before the 6% service charge and 15% government tax.

How long does a glass skin facial last?

The visible glow from one session typically lasts five to seven days, depending on your skin and home hydration routine. Barrier improvements accumulate over a course of treatments, with most people noticing a meaningful difference after two or three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.

Is the Korean Glass Skin Facial good for sensitive skin?

Yes, with caveats. PHA exfoliation is gentler than standard AHAs and BHAs, with less risk of redness or photosensitivity. If your skin is currently reactive or inflamed, tell your therapist at the start of the session and they’ll adjust the protocol. For genuinely sensitive skin, the Soothe & Refresh Facial (75 minutes, IDR 1,450,000) is worth considering.

What is the Rejuran PDRN add-on and is it worth booking?

The Rejuran PDRN Ampoule Boost (15 minutes, IDR 150,000) adds a concentrated dose of Rejuran’s Salmon DNA formula on top of the facial. Rejuran describes PDRN as supporting tissue repair and hydration signalling. If barrier repair, elasticity or texture refinement are your main concerns, it’s a worthwhile addition. If you mainly want a one-time glow boost, the core treatment delivers that on its own.

Can I book a glass skin facial in Canggu and get LED therapy too?

Yes. Dermalux LED Face Therapy is available as a 15-minute add-on for IDR 350,000. Per Dermalux, the light therapy supports cellular energy and luminosity post-treatment. It’s a popular pairing for guests who want maximum visible results from a single session.

How does glass skin facial compare to hydrating facial in Canggu?

Both treat dehydrated skin, but the emphasis differs. The Hydration Reset Facial (IDR 1,350,000) focuses on replenishing moisture after depletion. The Korean Glass Skin Facial (IDR 1,450,000) adds PHA exfoliation and Korean layering protocol on top, refining texture and building barrier health at the same time. Unsure which to book, message us on WhatsApp and we’ll help you choose.
