What is a lash lift?

The treatment uses a chemical solution to re-shape the internal structure of your natural lashes, bending them upward into a lifted, curled position. The result looks like your lashes are naturally long and curled, with no mascara, falsies or extensions involved.

The process takes around 45 minutes. Results last six to eight weeks. It enhances the shape and direction of what you already have; it does not add length. If your lashes are very short or sparse, the visual impact will be more subtle.

Before booking, it helps to know where a lift sits compared to the alternatives.

For most guests in Canggu who want low-maintenance results that survive surf, saltwater and Bali humidity, a lash lift is the cleaner middle ground: longer-lasting than mascara and far less demanding than extensions.

Lash lift Canggu: the YUMI system and pricing

Our lash lifts use the YUMI keratin system, a French-based professional brand built around a technique originally developed in Japan and distributed globally. YUMI’s formula is keratin-based, conditioning the lash during the lifting process rather than applying a straight chemical set. All instruments are sterilised to Australian hygiene standards, with each tool opened from sealed packaging at your appointment.

We use YUMI for eyebrow lamination in Canggu too, setting brow hairs into a fuller, brushed-up shape for six to eight weeks.

All prices are subject to a 6% service charge and 15% government tax. You can combine a lash lift and eyebrow lamination in one appointment, approximately 90 minutes, for a full eye-area refresh.

The step-by-step process at Mello

Knowing what happens in the chair removes most of the nerves.

1. Consultation. Your therapist checks your natural lash length, condition and curl direction, then selects the right silicone shield size. Shield size determines how much lift you get, and this choice is personalised to you.
2. Shield placement. A small silicone shield is placed on your upper eyelid. Your lashes are combed and adhered to the surface of the shield in a lifted position.
3. Lifting solution. A gentle lifting solution is applied to the lashes. It softens the internal structure of each hair so it can take a new shape, and stays on for a set time based on your lash type.
4. Neutraliser. The neutraliser is applied to lock the new lifted shape into place.
5. Tint (optional). If you have booked the lash lift + tint, a YUMI semi-permanent tint is applied at this stage, darkening the lashes for a mascara-free result. This adds around 15 minutes.
6. Conditioning finish. A nourishing conditioning treatment is applied before the shield is removed, leaving lashes smooth and separated.

The whole process is 45 minutes for a lift, 60 minutes with tint. You sit with eyes closed throughout.

How long does a lash lift last?

Most people see results for six to eight weeks, sometimes closer to ten, sometimes closer to five. The variation comes down to your natural lash cycle, first-48-hour aftercare, and the products you use around your eyes day to day. Oil-based cleansers and oily formulas break down the lift faster; water-based products extend it.

When the lift fades, your natural lashes have shed and grown back. Rebook when the curl has fully dropped.

Aftercare: what to do in the first 48 hours

The first 48 hours set the result. The lifting solution has done its work, but the shape needs time to fully cure.

Follow these steps after your appointment:

1. Keep lashes completely dry for 24 to 48 hours. No swimming, saunas, steam rooms or splashing your face.
2. Sleep on your back the first night, and avoid oil-based cleansers or eye makeup removers on or around the lashes. Pressing lashes into a pillow before the set is fully stable can flatten the curl, and oil breaks down the lift faster.
3. Avoid mascara for the first 48 hours. After that, water-based mascara is fine; oil-based is best avoided throughout.
4. From day three onward, your lashes need no special maintenance. Brush them gently each morning with a clean spoolie if they need separating.

Who is a lash lift right for?

No. The treatment is painless. You sit with eyes closed while the therapist works. The silicone shield sits on the lid, not in the eye, and there is no pulling, heat or discomfort. If you have very sensitive eyes, let us know before we start.

Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?

For the first 48 hours, no mascara at all. After that, mascara is fine, though most guests find they do not need it. If you do use mascara, choose a water-based formula. Oil-based mascaras and oil-heavy makeup removers break down the lift faster and will shorten how long your results last.

What is the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions?

A lash lift works with your natural lashes only: no glue, no synthetic hair, no fill appointments. Extensions attach individual synthetic lashes to each natural lash and require fills every two to three weeks. Lifts last longer between appointments and carry less ongoing cost.

Can I get a lash lift and eyebrow lamination in the same appointment?
