Summary: Mello Spa Canggu has pregnancy and IVF-safe treatments across the menu, including massage, facials, lash and brow work, and waxing. Our therapists are trained in pregnancy-appropriate positioning and pressure. Share your trimester or IVF stage at booking so we can pair you with the right therapist. For personal medical guidance on what is right for your pregnancy, please speak with your doctor, midwife, or fertility specialist before booking.

Growing a baby while travelling in Bali should not mean missing out on the rest and care that makes a Canggu trip worth it. Pregnancy massage in Canggu is one of the most-searched spa questions we get, and the answer is straightforward: most of what we offer can be modified for pregnancy, and our therapists are trained to do exactly that. Many guests book their first visit to Mello Spa Canggu because they heard we accommodate pregnancy from the second they call, rather than turning them away or guessing.

This guide covers which treatments at Mello are commonly chosen during pregnancy and IVF, which ones we typically pause or modify, and what to share with us at booking. We have designed it to be practical rather than prescriptive. What is right for your body at this stage is a conversation for you and your healthcare provider, not a spa blog.

We are ready when you are.

Pregnancy massage in Canggu: what to expect at Mello

Most of our menu is available to pregnant guests, with some modifications to positioning, pressure, and product selection. Here is a breakdown of what many guests choose at each stage.

Mello Signature Massage

Our most-booked treatment for pregnant guests. The Mello Signature Massage runs 45, 60 or 90 minutes (IDR 500K / 650K / 980K, all subject to 6% service charge and 15% government tax). For pregnant guests, your therapist adjusts the session to use lighter, grounding strokes across the back and lower body, avoiding percussive or deep trigger-point work. After the first trimester, we shift positioning from face-down to side-lying, supported by a pregnancy pillow. This allows full-body coverage while keeping you comfortable throughout.

The oils used across all body treatments are vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated with natural plant extracts sourced in Bali. Your therapist will check your preferred pressure before and during the session. Slow, intentional movements encourage circulation and help the body settle into a calm, regulated state.

Facials

Facials are popular at every stage of pregnancy. A few of our most-requested options:

  • Hydration Reset Facial (75 min, IDR 1,350K): many pregnant guests notice changes in skin hydration, and this treatment focuses on rebuilding moisture levels and strengthening the skin barrier using hyaluronic acid-rich formulations.
  • Soothe & Refresh Facial (75 min, IDR 1,450K): designed for sensitive or reactive skin, this facial skips extractions and uses calming cucumber and hyaluronic acid formulations with chilled masks. A good choice when skin is running warmer or more reactive than usual. LED therapy is available as an optional add-on (IDR 350K); check with your therapist about suitability during pregnancy.
  • Face & Scalp Grounding Treatment (60 min, IDR 1,100K): a massage-led facial ritual that focuses on releasing tension in the face, jaw and scalp. It includes sculpting gua sha massage across the face (not the abdomen), ice globe cryotherapy, and a Tibetan soundscape that supports nervous system regulation. It finishes with a Sodashi scalp mask. A grounding, calmer option when you want something that is less about skin results and more about how you feel at the end.

Your therapist will complete a personalised skin consultation at the start of every facial. They select products suited to what your skin is presenting that day, which can be especially helpful during pregnancy when skin is changing.

For the full facial menu, visit our face treatments page.

Lash tints, brow tinting, and shaping

YUMI Lash Tint (30 min, IDR 250K) and brow tinting and shaping services are popular during pregnancy. These treatments do not involve heat or chemicals applied to skin, and many guests book them throughout all three trimesters. If you have concerns about any ingredients, share them at booking and your therapist will talk you through what is used before starting.

Waxing

Light waxing (lip, chin, brow, underarm, half-leg) is a standard request during pregnancy when reaching certain areas becomes harder. Skin tends to be more sensitive during pregnancy, so your therapist will use a slightly gentler technique and check in throughout. Please let us know you are pregnant when you book so we can set up accordingly.

IVF-safe treatments at Mello Spa Canggu

We have a number of guests who visit us during IVF treatment cycles. Our approach is the same as with pregnancy: share your IVF stage at booking, and your therapist will select treatments and products suited to that stage.

As a general rule, treatments that are relaxing, gentle, and non-invasive fit well during an IVF cycle. For anything specific, your fertility specialist is the right person to advise. We will work within whatever parameters they recommend.

If you are searching for Mello Spa Canggu’s pregnancy and IVF-safe treatments, we are happy to talk through the menu with you on WhatsApp before you book: +62 811-3099-2525.

What to share when you book

The more context you give us, the better we can tailor your treatment. Here is what helps us most:

  • Trimester (first, second, or third)
  • IVF stage, if applicable (stimulation, retrieval, transfer, two-week wait, early pregnancy)
  • Any complications or conditions your doctor has flagged that might affect treatment
  • Preferred pressure (lighter, medium, or firm within safe range)
  • Comfort level with lying on your side, or any positions that are uncomfortable
  • Any skin sensitivities or product reactions to flag before your facial

You can share these details via the booking form, by WhatsApp, or at the start of your session. Our therapists will do a full check-in before starting.

Positioning and comfort during your treatment

After the first trimester, face-down lying is not recommended for extended periods. For massage, we move to a side-lying position using a pregnancy pillow to support the bump, upper leg, and lower back. This allows your therapist to work across your back, hips, legs, arms, neck and shoulders with full coverage and comfort.

For facials, all treatments are performed face-up, so no positioning modification is needed.

If at any point during a session you want to shift position, take a break, or adjust the temperature or pressure, let your therapist know. Sessions are paced to meet you where you are.

Products: what we use and why it matters

All body treatments at Mello use vegan, cruelty-free oils, butters and plant extracts sustainably sourced in Bali. We do not use synthetic fragrance in our massage oils. For facials, our product range includes Korean skincare brands such as Medicube, Laneige, COSRX, Skin1004, Round Lab, Haruharu and Anua, alongside Elemis, Dr. Spiller, and Sodashi. These are chosen for evidence-based formulations and low-irritant profiles.

At your facial consultation, your therapist will review what you are comfortable with and select products accordingly. You are always welcome to ask what is being applied before it goes on your skin.

Booking a couples treatment when one partner is pregnant

Our private couples treatment room is available on request, set up for two treatments side by side. When one partner is pregnant and the other is not, they can choose different treatments from the menu at the same time. One partner might book a Mello Signature Massage with deeper pressure while the other has a pregnancy-modified session. Or pair a facial with a massage in the same room.

Mention couples when you book, and note that one guest is pregnant, so we can pair the right therapists and hold the right room.

Frequently asked questions

Is pregnancy massage available in Canggu at Mello Spa?

Yes. Mello Spa Canggu offers pregnancy massage in Canggu across the menu, with therapists trained in pregnancy-appropriate positioning and pressure. The Mello Signature Massage is the most commonly booked, running 45, 60 or 90 minutes from IDR 500K. Share your trimester at booking and your therapist will adapt the session accordingly. For guidance on whether massage is right for your specific pregnancy, please speak with your doctor or midwife.

Is it safe to have a prenatal massage in Bali during the first trimester?

This is a question we recommend putting to your doctor or midwife, as first trimester guidance can vary depending on individual circumstances. What we can tell you is that many guests do visit us in the first trimester and our therapists are trained to adjust treatment accordingly. If your healthcare provider gives the go-ahead, share that when you book and we will tailor your session to that stage.

Can I have a facial while pregnant?

Facials are among the most popular choices during pregnancy at Mello Spa Canggu. The Hydration Reset Facial, Soothe and Refresh Facial, and Face and Scalp Grounding Treatment are all commonly booked by pregnant guests. Your therapist will review product choices during the consultation at the start of your session. If you have specific concerns about any ingredient, flag it when you book and we will plan around it.

Are Mello Spa treatments suitable during IVF?

Yes, we regularly welcome guests who are in active IVF cycles. Share your IVF stage at booking so your therapist can match you with the right treatment. We recommend checking with your fertility specialist about any treatments you are uncertain about, and we will work within whatever they advise.

Can I book a couples treatment if I am pregnant and my partner is not?

Yes. Our private couples treatment room at Mello Spa Canggu can be set up for two different treatments at the same time. One partner might have a pregnancy-modified massage while the other has a deeper-pressure session or a facial. Mention at booking that one guest is pregnant, and we will assign the right therapists and room.

Is waxing during pregnancy available at Mello Spa Canggu?

Yes. Waxing is available during pregnancy, though skin tends to be more sensitive at this stage. Our therapists are aware of this and adjust their technique. Underarm, leg, lip, chin and brow waxing are all commonly requested. Let us know you are pregnant when you book so we can prepare accordingly.

We offer results-led, non-invasive treatments across face, body and beauty, with Australian-standard sterilisation and a personalised consultation built into every facial. Our approach is considered: a purposeful menu and therapists who adjust to you rather than following a fixed script. For our full treatment menu, visit the Mello Spa Canggu homepage.
